ABSTRACT: This research evaluates the effectiveness of flipped classroom approaches in technical education, focusing on the benefits and challenges of this innovative instructional model. The objectives were to (1) assess the current use of flipped classrooms in technical education, (2) evaluate the impact of flipped classroom approaches on student engagement and performance, and (3) identify best practices and challenges in implementing flipped classrooms. A survey design was chosen to collect data from students, educators, and administrators involved in technical education, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the flipped classroom model. The sample size included 160 participants, selected through a purposive sampling technique to ensure that respondents had experience with flipped classrooms. The case study was conducted in Oyo State, Nigeria, a region with a strong technical education framework. Findings demonstrated that flipped classroom approaches significantly enhanced student engagement and performance by providing more interactive and student-centered learning experiences. However, challenges such as limited access to technology and resistance to change were identified. Recommendations included investing in necessary technological infrastructure, providing professional development for educators on flipped classroom techniques, and developing clear guidelines and support systems for implementing flipped classrooms effectively.
